HOME > NUCLEAR & HYDRO > Hydroelectric Power
Definition
- It is defined as an energy source that can substitute oil, coal natural gas, nuclear power, etc. with a chance of becoming a main energy source in the future.

- Although it is limited only to a small scale and has no economic efficiency now, it should be developed as practical energy source through much investment and technology development in the future.
New & Renewable Energy Field
- Eight renewable energy areas : Solar heat, solar photovoltatic power generation, bio-mass, wind power, small hydroelectric energy, geothermy, sea energy, and waste energy

- Three new energy areas : Fuel cell, coal liquefied gas and hydrogen energy
Korea has made an intensive development in 11 areas including oil, coal, nuclear power and energies without natural gas, as specified in the New & Renewable Energy Development, Use & Supply Promotion Act .
