Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. (KHNP, President & CEO Jong-shin Kim) and Westinghouse (USA), the world¡¯s key nuclear provider, held a workshop for the registration of nuclear equipment and materials vendors in a large auditorium at KHNP¡¯s headquarters on October 20th. Approximately 100 small and medium-sized corporations engaged in the supply of nuclear equipment and materials and cooperative R&D projects in Korea, joined the workshop, with the aim of deriving plans to enter into the international NPP market together.
This workshop was held to lay the foundations for massive exports of nuclear equipment and materials to advanced markets, as well as to developing markets such as China and India, by registering domestic small and medium-sized corporations as qualified vendors for Westinghouse, the world¡¯s leading nuclear provider with top market share ranking.
President and CEO Jong-shin Kim announced that thanks to the 1st workshop, which was held on July 8th, approximately 40 companies were currently preparing for registration, and that the scope of supply would be expanded beyond Westinghouse to AREVA (France) and GE (USA). In addition, he said that the excellence of the technologies and quality control of the small and medium-sized enterprises working in partnership with KHNP had been proven because 13 small and medium-sized enterprises were registered as nuclear equipment and materials providers through an MOU with AECL (Canada), and that exports now reached 10 million US dollars.
At the workshop, approximately 20 excellent products made by small and medium-sized enterprises were presented to the management and technical experts of Westinghouse in product and company presentations as well as in purchase consultations.
