KHNP Ranked First in the 2009 Management Evaluation of Korean Power Generation Companies for a Third Consecutive Year | 2010.06.16

- KHNP was ranked first in the 2009 evaluation of both the management and the presidents of Korean power generation companies.

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. (KHNP, President & CEO, Jong-shin Kim) has been ranked No.1 for a third consecutive year in the 2009 Management Evaluation on Korean Power Generation Companies. In addition, it also received first place in the evaluation of the presidents of Korean Power Generation Companies, which has been separated from the management evaluation this year. Last year, the company became the first Korean power generation company to attain a second consecutive No.1 in the evaluation, and its No.1 ranking this year shows that it is truly recognized as a company that achieves the best results.

The management evaluation was carried out from mid-May until recently by an evaluation team consisting of academics and others, a process that took about a month to complete. The evaluation is based on the business performance of the companies in eight metrical areas, including the reduction of generation cost, as well as in five non-metrical areas such as management strategy and management innovation.

In the evaluation, KHNP was ranked first in most of the areas. It was No.1 in metrical areas such as integrity, customer satisfaction, and generation cost reduction, and was also No.1 in non-metrical areas such as management strategy and management innovation. This enabled KHNP to achieve a No.1 ranking in the evaluation of both the power generation companies and the presidents of those companies.

A spokesperson for KHNP commented, "The jury recognized our excellent management achievements, such as the world's best performance of nuclear power plants, three consecutive years at the top in the evaluation of integrity, and the creation of the visible results through our management innovation, as well as our contribution to supporting the Korea Electric Power Corporation in the reception of the order for the UAE nuclear power plant project."

KHNP is currently pushing ahead with process innovation in the areas of personnel management, labor and management, operation, and construction by executing TDR tasks in the enterprise-level also this year, and is making efforts to promote internal competition and performance-oriented cultures by establishing a divisional structure dedicated to responsibility management.
